Shared Education

Holy Family PS has been in a long standing partnership with Currie PS. There have been many shared activities over the years but since the two schools were formally paired approximately four years ago through the Shared Education Signature Programme, the partnership has gone from strength to strength.
All classes have paired up from Primary 1 to Primary 7 and a host of activities have been completed.
In Foundation Stage, there have been many shared nature walks, outdoor play, Jump, Jiggle and Jive sessions and art activities to name but a few.
Primary 3 have focused mainly on the Forgiveness Programme.
Primary 4 were very lucky to pilot a ‘Shared Goals, Shared Futures’ PE course, based on the fundamentals of both Gaelic and Soccer football. This was a huge success and the children really enjoyed it.

Primary 5, 6 and 7 have had many shared sessions focusing on projects with New Lodge Arts, the World Around Us, IT and the TAMHI Programme which helps to prepare P7 pupils for the transition to second level education. Pupils also got the opportunity to interact with Limestone United, culminating in helping to design their new crest.
Our shared choir are renowned for their fabulous performances, winning competitions including FISCA Choir of the Year. The teachers involved (Mrs O’Hare and Mrs Blair) have been merited with a special teacher’s ‘Blackboard Award’ for their work in Shared Education.
A shared School Council have met and previously participated in community clean ups as well as trips to the Balmoral Show and Antrim Gardens.
The children involved have been so lucky to experience activities above and beyond the mainstream curriculum that would not have happened without the involvement of Shared Education.

The teachers and management of both schools meet regularly to plan and improve teaching and learning. Again none of this would have been feasible without the support of Shared Education.
We hope that this strong partnership with Currie PS will continue for many years to come and the enjoyment and experiences the children have had will continue to positively impact their lives and feed into the community in the future.
